This digital artwork is a demon character named Joanna. I enjoy character design, especially more fantastical aspects, and I enjoy drawing different types of scenes. I created this scene to reflect a tragic moment and make her look vulnerable. I purposely kept the background minimal yet beautiful because I did not want anything to look overwhelming. At the same time, the focal point was meant to be Joanna and her teary eyed expression. You don't know what she's looking at, but it's obviously a tragedy for her.

The first image below is the final cleaned up sketch. I usually make quick and clean sketches because making them too messy or sketchy personally makes it harder to do the line art. The second image is the flat colors. I prefer pale and slightly saturated colors, especially for this piece since it is all warm. The last image is fully shaded. I also made the eyes very vibrant green. When I added the background I also shaded the character with a dark blue tint so that it would look like she was standing under the night sky and the moon.
